Fall Break

Today is the last day of Fall Break. It was a great one. Our weather was in the low 70s all week long and I got to go out in nature to experience some new trails plus kayaking. It was really nice to not think about school all week. Don't get me wrong. This wasn't by choice. We were literally told not to do school work this week and to get a break from it all. So I just followed orders. There was this World Language Teacher Summit going on all week and I did buy the sessions for it. I will be watching them over the next few weeks to see if I can use some of their ideas. But, not this week. Nor did I make much progress reading my book I got from our assistant principal, the Die alte Dame am See. I was just out in the woods, trying new trails, more difficult ones than I usually do. Oh and the kayaking, so much fun. They rent kayaks out here at the Fort Loudoun Historic Park. You pay, get a paddle and a life vest and you're on your own. They are kind of trusting you not to get yourself killed I guess. Well, Ranger Lauren did stop by and asked where we were going today, with the kayak, and we said we were just hanging around near the shore line so not to capsize. Sweet lady. She also put the kayak in the hanger the right way after I managed to put it backwards on the stand. Sorry about that! Well, it was a good one. Now we wait for hurricane Delta to make its way to our area early in the morning and over the weekend. But, I'm not at all worried about it. I will do my shopping now, get it out of the way, then just head out to the gym every day until Monday, oh snap, it's back to school, in the pouring rain I suspect. I vaguely remember writing a really good lesson outline on the board for Monday. I will just have to trust in myself on that one. I think it's good. We had an online learning day the Friday before Fall Break and I took a lot of time with that. Wish me luck. Oh, forgot about that 5 K I did last Saturday. Please let 2019 be my best year ever

2018 is gone, Thank God. The last couple of weeks in December were the absolute worst. I had to undego kidney stone surgery last Friday. Still haven't quite recovered from that. They claim you recover in two days, not true. I tried to go to Ingles for a few items yesterday and couldn't really function too well. Checking out and talkng to the cashier was too much, I just kind of smiled. Well, on the bright side, my co-teacher and I started a YouTube channel. It's called The Dualing Language Teachers . This title is just too funny. My co-teacher came up with it. So we are planning to do weekly videos on there. Let's hope it will be a success. Something to look forward to in the new year. I am so glad that my brain worked overtime the day we got of school and the one after that, as I got so much stuff done for the new semester, unbelievable, really. It's like God helped me because He knew I was not going to be able to do any school work after the surgery. So here is 20

Last Day of Winter Break

Two weeks of Winter Break is up today. What a break it was. Kidney stone blasting and recovery, not much else going on. Yesterday at my follow up appointment I had the stent removed. So this morning I certainly feel much better. It was really hard to function with that tube inside of me. Very uncomfortable and I am not being a cry baby here. Speaking of being a cry baby, word must have gotten to this doctor that I was one, as he suggested I had the choice between getting it removed with sedation in an outpatient surgery or just in the office. I chose the office method since I didn't feel like missing a day of school. It really wasn't bad. So now I must get a grip on things and get myself physically prepared for school next week. The mental part is no problem. Lesson plans were made out before we even left school and submitted as well. We are covering clothing and shopping for clothes in both French and German classes. Spring Break in Tennessee

It's been a really nice Spring Break and I got to do lots of trail walking at our awesome Fort Loudoun State Park. There is nothing better to clear your head of all of the clutter and negative thoughts than going out into nature every day for a week. Monday we are heading back to school and will enter the end phase of the 2018/2019 school year. I would say it was a good year, full of challenges and new lessons to teach. On April 6, we will do a presentation on the Metaverse site at the TFLT Association Regional Workshop . I love that site. With so many components available, it really is up to the student how far he/she wants to take augmented reality. So, it's time to head back to reality on Monday. We can do this!
