Spring Break in Tennessee

It's been a really nice Spring Break and I got to do lots of trail walking at our awesome Fort Loudoun State Park. There is nothing better to clear your head of all of the clutter and negative thoughts than going out into nature every day for a week. Monday we are heading back to school and will enter the end phase of the 2018/2019 school year. I would say it was a good year, full of challenges and new lessons to teach. On April 6, we will do a presentation on the Metaverse site at the TFLT Association Regional Workshop . I love that site. With so many components available, it really is up to the student how far he/she wants to take augmented reality. So, it's time to head back to reality on Monday. We can do this!

Second Day With Students

Today was the second day with my students. There are still several schedule changes to be ironed out. Unfortunately I had five students fail my class and they have no choice but to take the class again or switch to Spanish next year. Three of those students are still in my class because they have not received or requested a new schedule, which is uncomfortable. So I am guessing I will end up with a total of right under 100 students in my four classes, which is good. My second period French class which had talked to Manuela Da Silva on reducing the use of plastics, will create some bird feeders out of milk jugs. Our art teacher gave me that idea. We were going to make a plastic sculpture, but we were scared it would blow away in a wind storm. These bird feeders should be fairly sturdy and hopefully will look cute in the court yard. What am I excited about?

Now that we've been out of school for a week and I have had a chance to get some mental rest I am considering what exactly I am excited about. I had told my school friend Sabine who is still living in Germany where we grew up that in retirement, which is in three years, I want to move to Spain. She was surprised but then confessed she wants to open a bed and breakfast in Sweden where people can still visit with her even though she has a severely disabled husband. It's not really one of those fight or flight situations. I do want to move to Spain and open some kind of rest stop on the Camino de Santiago route. It sounds crazy, I know, but that's a long term plan. Now as far as immediate things I am excited about, there are a few things. We have puppies. They are one week old, too adorable. And there is hiking; we've explored a few new ones lately in the area. I had wanted to do a cross country road trip this summer. It's too bad I am not really that excited about spe...
